The global effort at improving and sustaining the degree of safety on the roads will be attributed to the contributions of the United Nation Conventions (UN Conventions) on Road Signs and Signals. There have also been similar efforts at increasing the degree of attention being given to drivers’ behaviours and vehicles’ regulations. Back home, we can recognize a similar drive around the launching the draft, Nigeria Road Safety Strategy II, (NRSSII) 2019-2023, which outlined various steps for actualizing Nigeria’s Road Safety Vision.
In effecting any or both of the above two goals, there ought to be series of awareness programmes, targeted at the different road users, based on their cultural, literate, linguistic and social backgrounds.
Accordingly, in creating the much needed awareness campaigns to educate and inform all concerned on Safer Road Use, the CILT as a leading professional Institute in Logistics and Transport will champion a discussion on the strategies for implementing the UN Conventions on Road Safety, Drivers’ and Vehicles’ Regulations. This will help to get a greater number of the affected target group for this awareness campaign, like the need for an improved road safety management, safer roads and mobility, safer vehicles. Post cash care among others.
